Light — please read first

Before you begin

This room flashes light at a range of frequencies (including 8–13 Hz). It is offered as an exploration — not a treatment or a cure.

Flickering light can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Do not use this if you, or anyone who might see the screen, has a history of epilepsy, seizures, or photosensitivity. If unsure, do not proceed.

There are also strong sensory/motion notes: use a well-lit room, don't use while driving, and stop if you feel unwell.

Light

Eyes closed, face the light.

Close your eyes and let the flicker play across your eyelids. Nothing is projected onto them but light — the colours and shapes are made by your own mind. Start low; stop whenever you like.

What this is

Flicker-light stimulation has a real research line — from W. Grey Walter and Brion Gysin's Dreamachine (flicker at ~8–13 Hz, eyes closed), to modern studies of flicker-induced states and 40 Hz "GENUS" stimulation. People commonly report colour, pattern and a changed sense of time. We don't claim it treats or heals anything. It's an exploration; the value is in your own attention.

Research pointers: Bartossek et al. 2021; Schwartzman et al. 2019; Montgomery et al. 2024 (flicker & music); the MIT/Tsai 40 Hz GENUS work. This is not medical advice.
